Diane Norris Kuczynski Receives the Rita A. Bert Librarianship Award

The Rita A. Bert Librarianship Award is issued by the Children’s Librarians Association of the South Suburbs (C.L..A.S.S.) to a librarian who has consistently demonstrated professionalism, dedication, graciousness, and humanitarianism. This year’s recipient Diane Norris Kuczynski, assistant department head of Youth Services at the Orland Park Public Library, has made outstanding and long-term contributions to children’s services in public libraries. Diane’s contributions range from leading new services and programs as the Preschool Services Coordinator to innovative programs for all family members such as Environmental Club, Happily Ever After, and Wake Up Your Senses.  Diane’s professionalism has not been limited to her library staff, Diane has presented and shared her knowledge with fellow youth librarians at the Illinois Library Association annual conference, LACONI, and C.L.A.S.S workshops. Additionally, Diane has served on LACONI’s Youth Services board, and is currently serving as vice-president/president elect of C.L.A.S.S. for 2016-2017. Diane’s brings such dedication, boundless enthusiasm, and a commitment to learning and serving our children that exemplifies the Rita A. Bert librarianship qualities we all strive for.
