Models of Community Engagement – OPP

September 29 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

As libraries strive to find the best ways to connect with and serve community needs, Community Engagement strategies, positions and departments are on the rise. While models for this vary from one library to the next, many are pursuing similar goals, such as better outcomes for all stakeholders and community ownership – benefits well documented by businesses and peer institutions with a history of community engagement.

In this session, Kelly Benkert, Director of Leadership & Community Engagement at Northwestern University, will lead an interactive presentation exploring three key models of community engagement. Join her to learn about Collective Impact, Anchor Institutions and Asset Based Community Development and how they may fit into and enhance your library’s work.
