RASS Working With Homeless Patrons

May 16 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Patrons experiencing mental illness and homelessness are some of the library’s most vulnerable patrons. Providing services and advocacy for them can be a challenge for many libraries. Learn from Oak Park Public Library social worker Rob Simmons about integrating social service programs into public library settings. Ebony Martin, Outreach Coordinator for Housing Forward, which helps people transition from housing crisis to housing stability, will also speak on providing services, working with vulnerable populations, and partnering with library services. Michaela Haberkern, Deputy Director at Aurora Public Library will share their recent advancements and adjustments to space and policies to serve their homeless customers as well as equip their staff.
