The Art of the Headline with Charlie Meyerson

April 28 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

Learn what your audience is telling you about which headlines (and subject lines, tweets, and Facebook posts) work best to connect your work with those who’ll find it most relevant. Improve email open rates, website engagement and more—without compromising your integrity or your audience’s trust.

Takeaways:

  • Why email is still a channel unmatched for gaining audience insight
  • Easy ways to determine the words your audience finds most interesting
  • How article-level headlines should differ from email and social media headlines
  • The (more than a) century-old writing counsel now more essential than ever

Want to have one of your library’s email campaigns analyzed? Be one of the first three to register for this program. (Selected participants will be contacted with more details before April 28.)

Charlie Meyerson, founding head of news at startup Rivet Radio, has devoted a career in Chicago to connecting great journalism with growing audiences — online, on air, in print. He’s the winner of a national 2016 Edward R. Murrow Award for online audio investigative reporting — the latest of dozens of awards for his work at Rivet, FM News Chicago, WGN-AM, the Chicago Tribune, WNUA and WXRT-FM. His newest project is ChicagoPublicSquare.com, “Chicago’s New Front Page.”
